InkE lecture series in the winter semester 2024/25
Sex, Gender, and Health, Part 1: Prevention
22.10.2024-28.01.2025 – Graduate Academy
Biological sex differences are increasingly acknowledged as important modifiers in health, disease, and medicine, while sociocultural gender aspects, which closely interact with sex, have received comparatively little attention in this context.
Focusing on prevention, the series of talks “Sex, Gender, and Health” will provide an introduction to the complexity and relevance of the topic for personalised medicine. The series of talks is presented by scholars and clinicians from different academic backgrounds (e.g., cardiac surgery, nephrology, medical humanities, medical sociology, molecular biology, psychology). It covers a wide range of topics to highlight why sex and gender matter in current medical research and clinical practice.
Participants will learn to critically reflect their research process and to consider sex and gender differences whenever necessary. Finally, participants will have the opportunity to meet and engage with researchers in the field.
The series of talks is open to researchers from all disciplines.
The annual series of talks “Sex, Gender, and Health” forms part of the project Inklusive Exzellenz in der Medizin (InkE). The project is sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
